The third instrument in our VENTUS Ethnic Winds series features the sacred tones of Indian bansuri. Includes 14 playing techniques, nearly 350 pre-recorded phrases and additional drones - a total of 4,500+ samples! The Decorative Tone System allows for unique, authentic performances, while TACT (Total Articulation Control Technology) provides the ultimate solution for fully customizable mapping.
The bansuri is an ancient flute native to India, known in some texts as the nadi or tunava, which plays a special role in North Indian and Hindustani classical music, and is often referred to as a "sacred instrument" with appropriate religious significance. Unlike many ancient flutes, the bansuri is played horizontally (sideways).
We chose bansuri for the Ventus series because of its supreme importance in traditional Indian music and because we love its unforgettable low tones. It is the perfect companion for our Sitar Nation library.
Our bansuri library is performed by Josh Plotner, who captures all the key articulations and playing techniques of the instrument: sustains, ornaments, staccato, legato, glissando, bends, phrasing, and more!
