If MIDI libraries deal with the subject of "playing", the results are often very unnatural and ugly, even when using many popular and well-known libraries.

The challenge was to develop a playing library that sounded realistic and had a very broad application area for all genres of music.

That's why we picked up our beloved Collings mandolin to get that great mandolin sound.

We decided to record two "Schoeps CMC 5" microphones in a stereo setup, in the XY mic position, with two Neve 1073 mic preamps.

Then we strummed chord by chord, countless chords ...... We skillfully programmed the sample into a little masterpiece in which we could now realistically render the mandolin in strumming mode.
