We sampled 5 different types of clarity: sustains, damped notes, harmonics, vibrato and mordents (up and down). This particular Oud also has an octave bass string. We also captured improvisations in 6 different Makams (Arabic/Turkish melody types), which have several different options. There is also tempo synchronization.

Over the last decade we have sampled a large number of ethnic instruments, but few evoke such warmth, mystery and wonder as Turkey. This geographical location brings with it a range of musical influences from within and around the region; Arab countries to the south, Eastern Europe to the west. Some of our most inspiring libraries are based on sounds from around the world, including Sultan Strings, Shahrazad, Sultan Drums and the beautiful vocal music of Gediz and Güzin.

Now we add a traditional stringed instrument to this collection with the Oud. This lute-like instrument has centuries-old historical texts and brings with it traditions unrivaled in other parts of the world.

When planning this library, we chose an Oud model with full range and additional bass strings. We carefully selected all the necessary joints and even additional effects such as body noises, ghost sounds and string taps. After we were done sampling the madness several times, we let our expert Oud players go wild and rock us with all sorts of naturally performed improvisations and grooves. These phrases can be used to dress up your own playing parts or on their own to bring the ultimate realism to your music making.

Despite the wealth of content (around 10 gigabytes) we have developed an engine that contains everything you need in one page, with all the joints and improvisations just a key conversion away. It's all designed to give you easy access to these stellar samples, and the option to convert and edit the performance playback makes it simple to merge this Oud with other Sonokinetic libraries and your own compositions.
