We've extracted the soul and character of this iconic hardware reverb and brought it into the 21st century with advanced DSP and modern workflow enhancements.

Signature PCM Reverb
PCM stands for Pulse Code Modulation, a technique that was introduced in the early 1980s and has since become the primary method of processing digital audio. The technique has improved dramatically over the years, but in 1984 it was now considered low-fidelity, grainy or impractical. This was in stark contrast to the natural, spontaneous and clean sounding Plates and Sprinqs of the 1960s.

Fast forward almost 40 years, however, and it's these characteristics that make this reverb so popular again today. It has a distinctive, punchy and very unique sound.

The original device was limited in functionality, often used as a mixing console send that could be further enhanced with EQ, compression and other studio processing. With Pulse, we've not only implemented custom DSP and tone-shaping controls to bring this classic into the modern era, but we've done it in a way that makes it effortless and easy to adjust-whether you're a producer looking for quick, professional results or a songwriter just starting to design your own vocals! ......

The initial part of the sound is usually the loudest, which is called a transient. Loud transients can cause the reverb to sound thin or weak because the sustain portion or tail of the sound is much quieter.

Pulse's Shape parameter solves this problem by intelligently lowering the transient volume to give the reverb signal a richer, thicker, and darker tone without altering the original dry signal or using additional processors for unwanted sends, as is the case with conventional reverbs.
