All four parts were recorded independently, featuring true legato covering more than three octaves. We asked the string players to play the transitions between each note in the most natural and spontaneous way possible. This gives a natural sound that is closer to actual playing.

For cello, viola and violin, there's also the Vivid Legato, created using Vivid improvisation, for a more natural, expressive sound with built-in humanization and sensuality.

For violin, viola and cello, we have recorded famous improvisations in two styles and three loop samples. You can switch between GENTLE and VIVID performances in real time. The players in each section improvise with each other so that each performance is cohesive and fluid, feeling lively and full of natural energy.

The choir begins with a series of improvisations where you control the intensity of the singing and the pronunciation of the vowels.

Also included are two shorter percussive vocal performances and a technique called Chatters. This technique has an unmeasured Scandinavian style and carries a real sense of tension and movement.

Vocalists involved in the recording include Maddie Morris, who has won the BBC Young Folk Award, and Iona Lane, an accomplished Scottish folk singer-songwriter whose latest album scored in the Official UK Folk Albums Chart.

Featuring a classic single coil neck pickup sound using a variety of playing techniques. This is a great instrument for lead melodies or just adding emphasis and interest.

To complement the same techniques in the other instruments, two unmeasured playing techniques are included, stacked and played multiple times to create thick and fuzzy soundscapes.

We tuned the piano exactly three months before the recording. For us, this is the perfect time for the tuning sound to become really interesting. (Tuned but not completely accurate, you know what we mean!) The piano was recorded with separate samples taken with and without pedals, as well as a separate piano noise control.

The instrument contains pedal-only samples for those who prefer this more resonant sound. There is also a patch called Dust Piano. This is a noisier, more ambient playing that adds a bit of atmosphere when you want a softer sound.

These sounds are perfect for matching the other sounds in the library. As always at Westwood, some of the sounds are pushed further by guitar pedals and other methods.

Wrapped in an Evergreen framework customized for synthesizers, you can shape and change the sounds to make them your own. But we think they sound great already.
