Aalto's sound engine lets you create sounds that were previously difficult or impossible to produce with software synthesizers.At the heart of Aalto is a complex oscillator inspired by Don Buchla's designs, featuring FM, timbre, and waveform controls that produce a wide range of expressive sounds. These sounds are uniquely malleable and dynamic, in part because they are produced through dynamic computation rather than static wavetables.
The Aalto is designed for both sequencing modes and for playing individual notes. Each sound has a separate built-in sequencer with patched, independently controllable rates and offsets. This topology makes it easy to build complex, evolving textures.
Each voice also includes a low-pass gate module with a vactrol emulation in the control path. vactrol equations slow down the response to incoming control signals through complex nonlinear filters. You can turn the vactrol response down to transient, or up to noticeable ringing.
