The machine was used in producer studios and is known for producing iconic albums such as The Wall, Aja, Rumours, etc. The P821's signature sound is very open and has a rich tonal character because there is little to no electronics in the tape machine and no transformers, which makes for a very wide soundstage with no drastic compression or squelch.
