Vast Alaska is home to some of the most pristine natural beauty known to man. This last frontier is home to incredibly unique wildlife, vast wilderness and breathtaking mountains. Despite its remoteness and sparse population, Alaska's ecosystems are still severely threatened by climate change, and in June 2024, Splice hiked deep into the pristine landscapes of Denali National Park, Fairbanks, and Kenai Fjords to preserve and showcase the rare sounds from this pristine environment. The result is an immersive collection of field recordings, sound effects, and mimics that transport you to this wild and ever-changing landscape.

Recorded by composer and sound designer Charles Van Kirk and edited by Splice's resident producer Sam Kearney, the Alaskan wilderness is filled with field recordings of fast-flowing rivers, powerful waterfalls, a variety of birds, bark, twigs, dirt, thunder, and even some bear poop percussion. Kearney selected some of the originalsource material (in literature and art), produced with cinematic expansive effects and rhythmic loops that will blow you away.
