UNA CORDA faithfully captures the special sonic character of a custom modern piano, one string per key - originally created by David Klavins in close collaboration with composer Nils Frahm. Whether you're creating a melody for a movie or simply introducing a fresh element to electronic, pop, or jazz music, UNA CORDA delivers a tone unlike anything your audience has ever heard.

Prefabricated Piano
Drawing inspiration from three separate sound banks. The first bank captures the pure resonant sound produced by each piano hammer striking a single string. The second and third sound banks capture the preparation of the two materials between the hammers and the strings. Felt provides a softer tone with less attack noise, creating a smooth sound similar to that of an unplugged vintage electric piano. Cotton provides a noisier, more percussive attack and more overtones.

The Art of Noise
Change the sound by accessing unique noise and sound design elements. Modulate noises from fabric preparation, mechanical elements, pedals and rooms to enhance realism or create something completely new. Combine the hiss, compression and saturation of vintage outboard gear to produce anything from dry, rough textures to liquid pads and spinning effects.

The easy-to-use interface gives you complete control over the instrument's parameters. Choose from three different sound banks. Use the workbench to shape the main characteristics of the sound. Adjust dynamics and add overtones in the response section. Then touch up your sound in the Finish section by integrating vintage effect chains, reverbs, and more. The interface makes it easy to turn a pure tone piano into a noisy percussion instrument or ambient soundscape.
