For our first dedicated metal bass, what could be more inspiring than the Dingwall NG3 6-string bass? With its scalloped pinstripes, 37-inch B-string, three pickups, and the famous Darkglass Tone Capsule, the NG3 is known for its massive bass and incredibly versatile tone.

The NG3's internal hardware limitations prevented us from recording the neck, middle, and bridge pickups separately through the Darkglass preamp. But that didn't stop us. We got our hands on three Darkglass preamps and hooked them up to each pickup in addition to the physical bass. The result was an identical performance captured in three different tones of the pickups.
