The Model 80 is sampled from the Yamaha CP80 miniature electric piano, a labor of love for us and a tribute to the sound of an era.

This electric piano was properly restored and tuned before sampling. Extra care was taken in reproducing the characteristic sharp sound of the mid-range, the shallowness of the bass and the sharp highs.

It wasn't easy to get this piano to a level of quality that matched our goals. On-board electronics are noisy, and even electric pianos pick up a lot of ambient noise (imagine a guitar with 88 strings, each with a pickup!) . By restoring, preparing, tuning and sampling this stunning technical masterpiece, we have crafted what we believe to be the best rendition of this classic miniature electric piano.
