Ultimate Heavy Drums is a versatile drum set. Featuring 14 different snares, 10 different base drums, 3 sets of toms and a variety of cymbals. These impressive sounds are finely honed and pre-processed to perfection. The instrument also has a very valuable library of built-in mixing functions.

Engineered and recorded by Josh Middleton, an award-winning guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer from the UK. Throughout his career Josh has been involved in producing and mixing various bands (Sylosis, Architects, Kreator, Heriot, Nakkeknaeker, Malevolence).

Tilt Equalizer

The Tilt EQ will allow you to make any part of the kit lighter or darker using a simple horizontal fader. I would expect this library to be fully processed and "mix ready" as soon as you open it. However, having the ability to fine-tune the brightness or darkness of each element would allow for greater control over those sounds in the mix.

Transient Designer

This gives you the ability to increase or decrease the onset and sustain of each individual part of the kit, thus maximizing control over the impact and sustain of each element of the drum mix.

The Envelope Filter also gives you the ability to control the onset, sustain, and release of each drum kit, but in a different way than Transient Designer. These work more like fades in and out. In particular, the combination of the sustain and release functions allows you to hear full sustain and resonance in your drums, but adds more abrupt fades. For example, this technique allows your drums to "sing" with a nice initial sustain, but controls the more abrupt fades to balance the length of the decay.

One-Shot Sample Loader

One-shot samples are single percussion samples that can be loaded into this Kontakt instrument to combine with sounds in the library. This one-shot sample slot can be used in the kick drum and snare mixer. No sample library of its own: we've provided one-shot drum and snare WAV samples from this library as separate downloads, so you can combine different sounds in your mixes.

Pitch and Reverb

Pitch - As with all other mixing features in the instrument, the pitch control applies to every part of the kit. This can open up even more possibilities for drum sounds. It is especially useful when changing the characteristics of a snare drum. It can also be used to match the pitch or phase of any one-shot samples you may want to use.

Slate Trigger File

As a separate download, a folder containing Slate Trigger TCI files is supplied with your order. These are multi-effort sounds from the drum library in TCI form. All pre-processed and "mix-ready" sounds can be loaded into your mix for the same foot drum, snare and tom sounds as the "Ultimate Heavy Drums" Kontakt instruments. Included are close-miked overhead (stereo) and room-miked (stereo) samples of all the foot drums, snares and toms. To use these files, you must have the 'Slate Trigger' plug-in. You do not need 'Slate Trigger' to download and use the 'Ultimate Heavy Drums' Kontakt instrument.
