During the epidemic, percussionists Brian Rosenworcel and Daniel Freedman formed a unique friendship, going on hikes in the woods, knocking on trees, discussing life and creativity, and finding musical therapy with unusual objects to keep their sanity. They developed a deep relationship during their time in isolation, one that allowed them to communicate openly and honestly and gain a sense of unfettered honesty that allowed them to be their purest creative selves. Inspired by their connection, the two joined forces to form Howl Percussion, a mini-band whose musical philosophy begins with the drums and the rhythms at the heart of each track.
"It's a strange way to hit the ground running - there's usually no harmonic component, but we knew we could ask our musical friends to help us figure out where these beats wanted to go. It was tantalizing to delve into this unknown world, a sonic canvas painted in ways they couldn't have imagined. We were open to all beats, moods, and styles, but in the end we went places we'd never been before."
Born from this connection comes Secrets in the Air, a wonderful movie soundtrack that suggests movement, excitement, action and mischief. Perfect for heist scenes, car chases, or as a backdrop for confident heroes taking chances, this sample pack is a powerful eclectic collection of drums, world percussion, brass and horns. Professionally recorded and diverse, this pack is bound to have the right samples for any production, soundtrack, video game soundtrack, or sync position that needs energy and a bit of mystery.
Daniel Freedman's talents extend far beyond the reach of his drum set. A master rhythm catalyst, he brings boundless imagination to his gift of sonic alchemy, with influences ranging from swing jazz to deep-rooted blues and a wide range of traditions from Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and beyond. His skill has taken him from the rich stage of the Smalls Jazz Club in New York City in the early 90's to the Broadway stage in David Byrne's critically acclaimed American Utopia as well as the film version directed by Spike Lee. brian
Rosenworcel has been writing songs with his band Guster since the early '90s. On Guster's seminal 1999 album Lost & Gone Forever (produced by Steve Lillywhite), he used only his various tambourines and no drumsticks, treating his congas as dynamic instruments rather than just rhythmic accompaniment. As a lyricist, arranger and songwriter, Brian sees the whole picture beyond the drums and continues to tour the world with Guster.
