Martyn Ware has been an important and avid contributor to electronic pop music since the late 1970s and is partly responsible for hit records such as 'Being Boiled' and 'Temptation'. A founding member of The Electric Foundation, The Human League and Paradise 17, Martyn has worked with countless talents including Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, Erasure, Marc Almond, Mavis Stapes and Terence Trent D'Arby. A record producer and artist with over 50 million records sold worldwide, Martyn co-founded the Illustrious Company with Vince Clarke in 2001, where they continue to combine their unique 3D sound technology to work with a range of artists, corporate clients and customers in the performing arts industry. Although a native of Sheffield, Martyn now lives and works in London, and when he's not working in his studio on the Tileyard as we are, he can be found as a visiting professor at Queen Mary, University of London.

Synthesizers and Sequences
The Roland System 100 is often considered the last of the great synthesizers that had the last pair of great oscillators. Only a few handmade ones were sold, so they are hard to come by. This particular unit was gifted to Martyn by Vince Clarke in exchange for services in producing the Erasure album. It hosts Martyn's amazing programming skills and allows us to relive all those great Human League and Heaven 17 sounds. Plus, the synthesizers, vocals, pop and bass are some great sequences that are worth the admission fee alone!

Classic customized sound
Here we love to hear how Martyn's technique evolved with the growing feature set of later incarnations of the Roland keyboard. An anthology of classic custom sounds produced by the master!

Martyn also brings some great drumming and curiosity to his old faithful, and the Korg 700 has an exclusive sound that takes our minds back to the dawn of a new era in Britpop.

All the synthesizers sampled in N.I.C. are monophonic. But we painstakingly replicated this mono signal and sent it through many different interesting signal chains using old Class A outboard processing.

- Ch - Choral - We shipped a Roland Dimension D from Japan for this library! We thought it would be the best way to stereophile analog synthesizers!

- DI - Direct Injection - Recording directly from the keyboard output via the best NEVE line amplifiers. It is first activated when each instrument is loaded.
