Ice Music Landscape
NORDIC SPHERES is aKontaktInstruments which use rich soundscape content, granular synthesis and percussion sounds to create vast, frozen musical landscapes and musical fields. We worked with Mats Lundgren and Amina Hocine from Pole Position in Sweden to create a treasure trove of rich tonal and non-tonal audio from a multitude of creative sources.Mats' recordings combined with our layering and arpeggiator possibilities create a truly inspiring instrument.

Numb Happiness
NORDIC SPHERES is a mix of distorted atypical pitched and un-pitched sounds and effects that blend together like a glacial crash. There are four layers to build complex textures, each with its own ADSR, arpeggiator and FX options including EQ, saturation, chorus and vibrato.

With the grain sliding
NORDIC SPHERES was designed with huge glacial movements in mind. Our grain engine was the natural choice to accomplish this so that, like snowflakes, no two sounds are alike. Meanwhile, our advanced arpeggiator engine allows complex weaving across the sound spectrum, while the modulation knob controls any number of moving FX.

The secret to the NORDIC SPHERES crystals and memorable tones lies in the expressive power of the four layers and how the effect is linked to the modulation wheel.

Grain Engine
Two upper grain engines - real frosting on the instrument. Tweak the density to add thickness, adjust the start position for something more elusive, and change the timing to smear or shatter the sound like a falling icicle. Further advanced controls include ADSR and arpeggiator, and FX can be tied to the mod wheel.
