PI is an innovative multi-channel phase-interactive mixer plug-in engine for Mac and PC.

Good phase relationships are the key to great mixing results. When tracks are summed into a stereo mix bus, instruments tend to overlap and interact with each other in frequency range and phase position. A bass track may be temporarily out of sync with a bottom drum or rhythm guitar track, and when these two instruments are summed together, they cancel each other out in the overlapping frequency range, resulting in a temporary "hole" in the low end. Similarly, when the resonance of the pass-through drum is out of sync with the snare, the snare track may end up sounding thin in the mix.
