Glacier Keys
A unique sound realized through sampling.Glacier Keys delivers the rich piano overtones played on the Steinway D, creating a sparkling, glassy tone that's completely unique.

Overtones are produced by gently touching the string in the correct position to mute the fundamental and resonate the higher octave overtones.

Glacier Keys has taken this concept, usually found in string libraries, and applied it to the Steinway D concert grand piano. By sampling this technology in detail, the Glacier Keys allows you to play overtones as easily as you would with a regular piano - something that would be impractical, if not impossible, in a live recording. This piano feels natural to play, while providing a truly unique glass-like tone.

In addition to these unique and original sounds, Glacier Keys includes 11 Atmosphere Layers and a variety of microphone positions that provide a quick way to change the perspective and tone of the piano. These features are explored through 11 snapshots curated by the Fracture Sounds team, providing a unique addition to any soundtrack.

Detailed control
As with all of our piano libraries, we've taken a detailed approach to sampling Glacier Keys, capturing every nuance, including the mechanical noise of the pedals and mallets. We've also added a Room Tone control that allows you to reintroduce the natural ambience picked up by the microphone, which is often lost during sample cleanup.

Glacier Keys introduces individual microphone mixing for our piano series. By selecting broadcast-ready mixes for near, center, and far microphones, you can dramatically change the sound and easily switch from private to ambient.
