Melodyne is a software application that allows you to edit audio in a more musical way than you ever thought possible. In Melodyne, you use notes, not meaningless waveforms. Not only can you see where the music gets louder or quieter, but you can also see where the notes start and end and what pitch they are at.
Melodyne is a software application that allows you to edit audio in more musical ways than you ever thought possible. In Melodyne, you work with notes instead of meaningless waveforms. Not only can you see where the music gets louder or smaller, but you can also see where the notes start and end, and at what pitch they are located.
Note-based audio editing
Melodyne gives you unrivaled access to all the musical details in your recordings and samples-note by note. This is accomplished through sophisticated analysis that delves into your recordings and samples and identifies and understands the musical relationships within them: individual notes and their characteristics, scales, keys and chords, time, rhythm, and tone color. And with Melodyne, you can edit all of these things intuitively. Not just vocals, but every instrument as well - including polyphonic instruments such as piano and guitar.
Notes and Instruments
In Melodyne, notes are represented as blobs. By using Melodyne's powerful tools, you can edit (among other things) the pitch, vibrato, volume, sibilance, length, timing, and sonority of each note. In this way, you can enhance the intonation, phrasing, dynamics, and timbre of your playing in a musical, direct way. And clever algorithms ensure that your edits are almost always inaudible, sensitive and natural.
Why Melodyne is better
The Melodyne sounds so good and is so easy to use based on two things. The least important is the technology.
The decisive factor is its understanding of the music.
Melodyne recognizes notes and the relationships between them. It is only with this knowledge that Melodyne's algorithms are able to "think" and function in this musical way. The benefits to you as a musician and producer include Melodyne's famously superior sound and many other advantages that software lacking an understanding of the musical context cannot provide.

Keyboard Shortcuts. The Gradient and Sibilance Balance tools now appear directly below the Amplitude tool, which corresponds to the layout in the Toolbox.
